Mother Recounts Horrifying Train Crash, Son OK

ELK RIVER (AP) - A Minnesota woman is recounting a terrifying ordeal as she worked to free her toddler from their car before a train struck the vehicle at a railroad crossing in Elk River.

Anja Bochenski was driving her 15-month-old son, Henry, to day care Monday when she waited at a crossing for a train to pass. As she drove across the tracks, another train approached and her car started to slide. Another vehicle pushed them into the path of an oncoming Northstar commuter train.

Brochenski couldn't get her door open, so she crawled out a window, then worked to free her son from his car seat. But it was too late. Brocheski jumped out of the way as the train struck the car. When Brocheski rushed to the vehicle, she found her son crying, but OK.
