Mother Charged With Shooting Daughter

NORTH ST. PAUL (AP) - A mother is charged in Ramsey County with shooting her daughter during an argument about the teen's boyfriend.

Thirty-five-year-old Tonya Raleigh is accused of second-degree assault in the Feb. 9 shooting of the 18-year-old in North St. Paul. The teen was shot in the leg and is recovering.  Raleigh's 14-year-old daughter told police her mother, her older sister and their boyfriends had been drinking all day Saturday and she awoke to a physical argument early Sunday and the shooting.

SWAT team members were called to the apartment, but later learned Raleigh had left. She was arrested Monday. Police say Raleigh contends her daughter attacked her. Online court records do not list an attorney for Raleigh.
