ST. CLOUD -- Many St. Cloud State University students are ecstatic this week as some finish their last finals of their college career and prepare for graduation.

The St. Cloud State commencement ceremony will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Halenbeck Hall.

Nearly 700 students are expected to walk in the ceremony. There are a total of 1,075 students graduating, 883 are undergraduate students, 187 are graduate students and five are doctoral students. The graduating class represents students from five continents, 33 countries and 20 states.

The ceremony's student address will be given by 22-year-old Bailey LaPoint, a cum laude graduate from River Falls, Wisconsin.

LaPoint studied abroad in northeast Spain. She also interned with SAI Programs, a California based company that coordinates student study in Europe.

Interim SCSU President Ashish Vaidya will be conferring degrees. Interim provost and vice president for academic affairs, Dan Gregory will be presenting the graduating class.
