Monticello Nuclear Plant Fires Up

MONTICELLO  (AP) - The Monticello nuclear power plant has been returned to full service.

The Xcel Energy plant was shut down last Friday so a safety relief valve could be replaced. The safety valve protects the main steam line system from too much pressure.

The plant is about 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis and generates enough power for nearly a half million homes.
