MONTEVIDEO (AP) — The police chief in Montevideo is on paid leave after being accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a teenage girl.

A judge has granted an 18-year-old woman a harassment restraining order against Chief Adam Christopher. The woman alleges that Christopher sent her hundreds of texts that were sexual in nature starting when she was 17.

The city and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating.

A person who answered the phone at Christopher's home Friday said he was not available.
