Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, October 16, 2014 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Long Prairie for Monica J. Hiedeman, age 83, who passed away on Friday at Valley View Assisted Living in Long Prairie. Fr. Omar Guanchez will officiate and burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Long Prairie. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm on Wednesday and after 8 am Thursday at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home – Stein Chapel, Long Prairie. St. Mary’s Christian women will pray the rosary at 4 pm with parish prayers at 7 pm in the funeral home on Wednesday.

Monica June Decker was born June 7, 1931 in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Kortuem) Decker. The family moved to Reynolds Township in 1936, where Monica grew up and attended school. They later moved to a farm near Eagle Bend. She married George Hiedeman on May 1, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa. They moved to Montana for a short time returning to the Long Prairie area. They lived on a farm in Hartford Township for many years. She later moved into Long Prairie where she eventually moved into Prairieview Manor, where she resided for many years.

Monica was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She enjoyed all kinds of gardening, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. Monica loved feeding the birds. She also enjoyed canning, quilting, and babysitting.

Monica is survived by her son, Fred, Little Falls; siblings, Ronald (Dixie) Decker, Long Prairie, Willard (Bernie) Decker, Long Prairie, and Lucille Bohms, Sterling, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband George in 1995.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Decker, Henry Decker, John Decker, Vincent Kleckner, Jr., Justin Shutter, and Joe Fosiad. Honorary pallbearers will be Monica’s nieces and nephews.
