MnDOT Reminds Against Placing Signs In Highway Right-Of-Way
UNDATED -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation wants to remind you that it's illegal to place any unauthorized signs or objects in the state highway right-of-way.
MnDOT says they are already seeing an increased number of violations as summer nears.
Unauthorized signs include garage sale signs, real estate signs or those for public events.
Highway rights-of-way include driving lanes, shoulders, ditches, clear zones and sight corners at intersections.
The penalty for putting the signs there is a misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $1,000 and 90 days in jail.
