MN Take-A-Kid Fishing Weekend On Tap Next Month

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesotans who don't have fishing licenses can still catch a break next month as long as they're accompanying a child age 15 or younger.

The state's annual Take-A-Kid Fishing weekend is June 10-12. The aim is to encourage adults and kids to share an angling experience on the state's thousands of waterways.

Mike Kurre is with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. He says the weekend allows adults to take kids fishing without worrying about getting a license themselves.He says that helps ensure the continuity of the state's

fishing tradition.

An annual resident fishing license costs $17 and is valid through April 2012.
