ST. CLOUD - Chinese artist Lei Yixin, the creator of the "Stone of Hope" sculpture in the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial spoke at St. Cloud State University on Wednesday.

Yixin discussed his work as a master sculptor and his selection to create the memorial's 30-foot white granite centerpiece. Yixin also showed and discussed previous works that he's done during the presentation.

Yixin's son and SCSU Grad Student, Ke Shi, acted as an interpreter during the presentation.

The "Stone of Hope" honors King's contributions as an activist and leader. The memorial is located in Washington D.C between the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials.

The memorial was dedicated in 2011, 48 years after King led the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
