BLAINE (AP) - Police say a truck driver from Missouri is dead after he was struck by a large plastic pipe that he was unloading at a business in suburban Minneapolis.

Blaine police say officers were called to the accident just before 9 a.m. Tuesday. Authorities say the man in his late 20s had been unloading large diameter plastic pipe from his semi-truck trailer when a piece fell and struck him.

Responders gave first aid to the victim. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids with critical injuries and later died. His name was not immediately released.

The Minnesota Division of Occupational Safety and Health is among agencies investigating the accident.
