BIG LAKE -- A Mississippi woman faces several charges after a burglary in Big Lake earlier this week.

The incident happened at about 10:00 p.m. Tuesday at the America's Best Inn Hotel.

Police Chief Joel Scharf says when officers arrived, the victim told police someone had entered their room and taken several items, including prescription drugs, while they were out.

A witness told police they had seen a woman approach the door trying to get in, before eventually forcing it open.

Further investigation identified the woman as 34-year-old Brittany Blades of Osyka Mississippi.

When confronted by police, Blades said it was her 2-year-old who had taken the items from the room. During a search, police found the missing items under her bed. They also found two metal spoons with a powder residue and several hypodermic needles.

Blades was arrested and taken to the Sherburne County Jail. She faces charges of 3rd degree burglary, theft of property, and possession of hypodermic needles.
