APPLE VALLEY, Minn. (AP) - Three baby snow monkeys will make their public debut at the Minnesota Zoo just in time for Mother's Day.

The babies were born in the past three weeks to mothers Yuki, Shumei and Yumoto.

The zoo says the babies are staying close to their moms but are beginning to venture out on their own.

Reports say that other than one male, the babies' genders aren't known yet. The babies also have not been named.

Snow monkeys - also called Japanese macaques (meh-KAKS') - are known for their reddish-brown faces, whiskers and beards, and long, dense fur.

They originate from Japan and typically live in troops ranging from 10 to 200 individuals.
