EDDYVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police say they are investigating the death of a woman who was struck by a car as she attempted to walk across Interstate 24.

Officials say 50-year-old Julie Marie Reimann, of McGregor, was traveling early Monday with family from Florida to Missouri when they stopped on the side of I-24 near the Cumberland River Bridge.

Officials say Reimann attempted to walk across the highway's westbound lanes and was struck by a vehicle driven by Sheryl Newton of Calvert City.

Police have not released any other details about the incident.

The Lyon County coroner says Reimann was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trooper Jay Thomas, a spokesman for Kentucky State Police, says the reconstruction investigation could take several days to complete.
