DULUTH (AP) — A northern Minnesota woman has been sentenced to almost 29 years in prison for her part in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend.

Twenty-two-year-old Janessa Peters of Eveleth was sentenced Monday. She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last November in the death of 28-year-old Harley Jacka in April 2014. He was found dead in a Virginia apartment after being beaten and stabbed more than a dozen times.

Peters turned herself in to police last August, saying that she asked to have Jacka killed.

In earlier testimony, she admitted telling Bartholamy Drift of Virginia that she wanted him to kill her boyfriend so the relationship would end.

Drift and two other men also pleaded guilty in the case. Drift will be sentenced later this month.
