TOWN OF RICE LAKE, Minn. (AP) - Minnesota will soon have a new city.

Reports say an administrative law judge has granted the Town of Rice Lake's petition for incorporation.

The judge has set an election day of October 13 to decide on a mayor and city council members.

Rice Lake, which will include 32 square miles, will continue to rely on neighboring cities for services during the transition.

The township, founded in 1870, has a population of about 4,000 people and is located in St. Louis County, north of Duluth.
