UNDATED - The state wants to cash-in on sports.  Explore Minnesota Tourism, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Chambers of Commerce have teamed-up on a marketing campaign to attract amateur sports events to Minnesota cities.  They're promoting our facilities to event organizers from across the country at trade shows.

Kelly Sayre is the Director of Sports and Special Events in St. Cloud.  She says the bigger push for sports dollars will benefit the St. Cloud area.

Explore Minnesota says the state has a wealth of sports venues ranging from collegiate and community facilities to venues such as the National Volleyball Center in Rochester and the National Sports Center in Blaine.

The Can-Am Police-Fire Games in St. Cloud this summer, and Red Bull Crashed Ice competition in St. Paul earlier this year are a couple examples of national sports events the state would like to attract.
