Minnesota Supreme Court Hears Minimum Wage Arguments

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Supreme Court will hear arguments on a minimum wage requirement in the City of Minneapolis.

Justices on Tuesday will hear the city's appeal of a ruling made by a Hennepin County District Court judge who ordered a $15 an hour minimum wage proposal be placed on the November election ballot.

The Supreme Court is also expected to listen to arguments over professional liability insurance for police officers in Minneapolis.

The same district court judge, Susan Robiner, determined that existing state law pre-empts the proposed requirement. Robiner ruled the requirement would conflict with state law because it would add restrictions to the city's ability to cover officers.
