ST. PAUL  (AP) - The Minnesota Senate will hold two hearings on proposals for the state to help build a new Minnesota Vikings stadium, as Gov. Mark Dayton meets with backers of possible sites.

Dayton met Wednesday with the mayor and a city council member from Arden Hills, where the team wants to build a $1.1 billion stadium with financial assistance from the state. Dayton says the officials told him there is strong local support for building on a huge, undeveloped piece of land that was once an Army ammunition plant.

Also Wednesday, state Sen. Julianne Ortman says she will convene several informational hearings on the proposal: one on Nov. 29 and one on Dec. 6.
