Minnesota Police Sergeant Accused of Driving Drunk

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – A South St. Paul police sergeant is accused of driving drunk and then fleeing police.

According to charges filed Friday, a field-sobriety test showed Cory Slifko had a blood-alcohol level that was twice the legal limit shortly after he was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Slifko, a 13-year veteran of the force, is also accusing of striking mailboxes and gas pumps before a Rosemount police officer rammed his sports utility vehicle to stop it.

The 36-year-old is charged with felony fleeing a police officer, two counts of fourth-degree driving while impaired and criminal damage to property.

Slifko was released Tuesday after posting $30,000 bail.

Slifko was put on paid administrative leave. A message left at his Farmington residence Saturday was not immediately returned.
