MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota wants to follow up its 2018 Super Bowl host duties with an NCAA men's basketball Final Four in 2019 or 2020.

State, business and sports leaders appeared Tuesday with Gov. Mark Dayton to describe their push for college basketball's biggest weekend. They think the gleaming new $1 billion stadium being built for the MinnesotaVikings is the perfect setting for the Final Four. The stadium is scheduled to open in 2016.

Last month, the NFL chose Minneapolis to host the Super Bowl four years from now. Minneapolis was already named a finalist by the NCAA for the championship event sometime between 2017 and 2020. Officials say it makes the most sense to wait until after the Super Bowl.

A decision is expected by early November.
