RICHMOND - The Minnesota Homegrown Kickoff begins this weekend, marking the start to the bluegrass music season in Central Minnesota.

The Minnesota Homegrown Kickoff is a three-day outdoor music festival showcasing bluegrass bands at El Rancho Manana Campground and Riding Stables near Richmond.

Twenty bands are expected to take the stage on Friday through June 3. Music styles range from bluegrass to old-time stringband, and other forms of related acoustic music.

In addition to the bluegrass performances. there will be workshops, jam sessions, as well as food and craft vendors.
