ST. PAUL (AP) — Gov. Mark Dayton is calling out the National Guard as a spring storm sweeps across southern Minnesota.

Dayton issued an emergency executive order activating the Guard Wednesday.

Dayton says the storm has caused widespread power outages and dangerous travel conditions. The governor says the storm is taxing the resources of local and county governments, and he says storm conditions are expected to worsen.
