Minnesota First in Providing Medical Care

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A federal analysis ranking states on how they're delivering health care puts Minnesota at the top.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality looked at hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and other medical providers in its annual review. Minnesota scored 67 of a possible 100 and improved in many types of care. But, the analysis shows the state is weak in home health care and maternal and child care. The state ranks first in care at medical clinics, fourth in care at hospitals, eighth in nursing homes, but 43rd in home health care.

Home health care is the state's lowest rank and a category that has puzzled state officials for years.
