FOREST LAKE (AP) - The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has issued an eviction notice to a private research and education facility at a wildlife management area in Anoka County.

The Wildlife Science Center has leased land and space at the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area since 1991. A Department of Natural Resources spokesman said Thursday the agency has "serious health and safety concerns" about the facility.

The facility has two mountain lions, four foxes, two coyotes, 40 wolves and other animals.

Center director Peggy Callahan says she will fight the eviction notice. She says the agency cited late lease payments, building alterations and running a dog rescue from the facilities.

Callahan says it would be difficult to move animals in the winter to another property the center owns.
