ST. PAUL (AP) — The president of a prominent Minnesota Catholic high school has resigned after he informed other school officials that he is in a same-sex relationship.

William Hudson's resignation from Totino-Grace High School was made public Tuesday in a letter to people connected to the school. The letter is from the two leaders on the school's corporate board.

The letter says Hudson voluntarily offered his resignation. It also says that it recognizes that "leading a Catholic school while living in a same-sex relationship is not consistent with teachings of the Catholic Church."

Hudson couldn't immediately be reached for further comment.

His biography says he has been president for two years and previously had a top role at the National Catholic Educational Association.
