Minnesota Brothers Again Dominate Federal Duck Stamp Contest

MINNEAPOLIS -- Two Minnesota brothers are keeping it all in the family at the Federal Duck Stamp art contest.

James Hautman of Chaska won the 2016 contest with his acrylic painting of Canada geese. It was Hautman's fifth win, tying him with his brother Joseph Hautman of Plymouth, whose art appears on the 2016-17 stamp and was ineligible to compete this year.

In third was another brother, Robert Hautman of Delano, a previous two-time winner, with his acrylic painting of a pair of Canada geese.

The Hautman brothers have won 12 Federal Duck Stamp contests. Last year they swept the top three spots.

James Hautman's work will grace the 2017-18 stamp, which goes on sale in June. Stamp sales raise about $25 million a year from hunters and collectors to fund waterfowl habitat programs.
