MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The city of Minneapolis plans to name a street near the new Vikings stadium after former Vikings and NFL Hall of Fame coach Bud Grant.

Plans call for naming 9th Avenue South between 6th Street and 7th Street "Bud Grant Way." A public dedication ceremony is scheduled for Dec. 1 at 12:15 p.m.

The name would replace the commemorative name "Carew Drive," named after former Twins star and Baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew. Carew Drive has since moved near Target Field.

The Minneapolis City Council will vote on the name change Dec. 12.

Grant was the Vikings' head coach for 18 seasons, from 1967-83 and in 1985. During that time he compiled a regular season record of 158-96-5 and led the Vikings to four Super Bowl appearances.
