ST. CLOUD — Police have jailed a 19-year-old Minneapolis man on felony assault charges after he allegedly beat another man in downtown St. Cloud early Sunday.

Police arrested 19-year-old Benjamin Randolph Byer and charged him with 3rd degree assault and minor consumption.

Byer’s accused of repeatedly punching a 21-year-old Forest Lake man in the face at RumRunner’s Bar at 102 6th Avenue South. The victim says he did not know Byer. Police say the victim was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital where medical staff say he has a facial fracture from multiple punches to the head.

Police arrested Byer outside the bar after bar staff identified him.

Byer’s being held for court in the Stearns County Jail.
