SARTELL - Sartell Police arrested a Minneapolis man early Friday morning for allegedly taking items from a vehicle.

The incident happened just after 1:45 a.m. in a parking lot in the 1200 block of 15th Street South. Police responded to a report of four males pulling on vehicle door handles to see if they were unlocked.

Officers found four males hiding in the area, with one fleeing on foot. A witness was able to identify one of the men, 18-year-old Marawan Selim of Minneapolis, as someone who had been inside one of the vehicles.

The other suspects were identified, one from Roseville and another from St. Paul. However, they were released with no solid evidence of them committing a crime.

Selim was taken to Stearns County Jail. Police also found a credit card on him with another name. It was found that the owner who lived nearby had his wallet stolen overnight.

Selim is facing charges of tampering with a motor vehicle and stolen property.

Sartell Police are reminding you to keep your vehicles locked and without valuables inside. The suspects appeared to only target unlocked vehicles.
