Minneapolis Man Acquitted of Killing St. Paul Mom in Robbery
ST. PAUL -- A jury has acquitted a Minneapolis man on charges of killing a St. Paul woman during a robbery and burglary at her home last year.
The Ramsey County jury found 31-year-old Albert George McIntosh not guilty of intentional second-degree murder Friday after about two days of deliberations.
McIntosh was accused of being one of three men who robbed Sarah Wierstad's duplex Oct. 18, 2015. Prosecutors allege McIntosh shot the 24-year-old single mother as she begged to get her cell phone back.
Defense attorney Christopher Zipko says McIntosh is stunned and relieved.
Prosecutors say Wierstad's death was the start of a crime spree by McIntosh and accomplices that included a fatal shooting in Minneapolis.
Wierstad's relatives say they hope McIntosh gets convicted in that case.
