MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Authorities say a young girl is recovering after she struck by a bullet shot through the wall of her Minneapolis home by someone outside.

Police say the 10-year-old was inside her family's apartment when she suffered a gunshot wound to her foot about 10 p.m. Thursday. Police spokesman Scott Seroka says gunfire had erupted outside her home and one bullet pierced the wall and struck her.

Another young girl was injured in a similar way Thursday night in Milwaukee. A 9-year-old girl was inside her home when she was hit by gunfire from outside. Police say several bullets penetrated the home during a shootout between two groups of people. The girl was critically injured.
