Services will be at 11 am, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Long Prairie, for Mildred E. Van Ruler, age 91 of Long Prairie, who passed away on Friday at the St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud. Pastor Matt Stacy will officiate and burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery following a luncheon in the fellowship hall. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home – Stein Chapel, Long Prairie.

Mildred Eleanor Bruxvoort was born November 10, 1924 at Crookston, Minnesota to Malis and Gertie (Williamson) Bruxvoort. In 1945 she married Guys Van Ruler who served in the United States Navy. They farmed near Edgerton and later moved to a farm near Clarissa, Minnesota where they farmed for over 25 years. After retiring from the farm, they moved to Long Prairie. Mildred retired from Cathedral Press in 1991. Guys passed away in 1993 and Mildred then moved to the Terrace Town Homes. She moved to Valley View Assisted Living in 2009. In November 2015 she moved to St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud.
Mildred was a member of First Baptist Church in Long Prairie. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and also reading.

Mildred is survived by four children: Marlis (Gordon) Staege of Eagan, Gary (Carol) Van Ruler of Lakeville, Marcella (Alan) Johnson of St. Augusta, and Harley (Wendy) Van Ruler of Long Prairie. Mildred and Guys had nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Gerald Bruxvoort of Worthington, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband Guys, her parents and many brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Camp Lebanon, Burtrum, Minnesota.
