Melvin M. Allord, 70, Brainerd

Melvin M. Allord, 70, of rural Brainerd, MN died on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at his home. A Gathering and Reception of family and friends will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 1:00-3:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.

Melvin was born on June 20, 1944 in Dagget Brook Township to the late Morris and Jane (Fleischhacker) Allord. He graduated from Brainerd High School and entered the United States Army, serving in Vietnam as a combat engineer. Melvin was united into marriage to Julie Larson on June 15, 1989 at their home. He worked for Potlatch for 36 years until his retirement. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and gardening. He also liked bow hunting, watching sports, and especially being outdoors. He loved his dog, Fritz.

Melvin in survived by his wife, Julie; daughters, Patience (Mark) Filkins of Brainerd, MN and Darcy Rakow of Brainerd, MN; son, Tyrone Allord of Merrifield, MN; brother, Larry Allord of Brainerd, MN; sister, Elaine Meyer of St. Cloud, MN; and muliple grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sharon Kohl. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
