Melrose Man Hurt in Motorcycle Crash

MILLWOOD TOWNSHIP -- A Melrose man was hurt in a motorcycle crash last (Sunday) night.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says 52-year-old John Engst was riding his bike westbound on County Road 157 east of Melrose just before 8:00 p.m. when he lost control around a corner at Thunder Road and went into the ditch.

Officers arrived to find Engst sitting on his bike with significant head injuries. Engst was taken by ambulance to Melrose Hospital, then airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital.

Engst was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Heavy rain is believed to be a factor in the crash.
