Melrose Brain Cancer Fundraiser Promises Family Fun

MELROSE - Spend the whole day in Melrose tomorrow (Saturday), and help support brain cancer research.

The annual "Kickoff to Summer Car Show and Cookoff" runs from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

Spokeswoman Jenny Mayers says the event began back in 2007, after her friend Ralph Hellerman died of brain cancer.  She says since then over 60 people from the area have shared their personal stories.

Tomorrow's events include a classic car show -- the gates open at 7:00 a.m. at the Sauk River park.  The Turkey and Rib Cookoff starts at 2:30 p.m. There will be a chance for you to win an autographed guitar signed by Tim McGraw. Live music starts at 7:00 p.m.  And there's fireworks at dusk.
