Medical Examiner: Shakopee Couple Killed by Blows to Head
SHAKOPEE, Minn. (AP) - Authorities have released the names of a man and woman killed earlier this week in their Shakopee home.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says 67-year-old Renee Ahrens and 68-year-old Terry Weimer were beaten to death on Monday night. Both died from what the medical examiner called "craniocerebral injuries."
The two were engaged to be married.
Authorities tracked Weimer's son, 40-year-old Adam Weimer, to his home in Waseca the next day. Police say he fatally shot himself during a standoff.
Authorities haven't revealed a motive for the killing.
