ST. CLOUD - More than 50 mayors from cities along the Mississippi River are coming to St. Cloud this summer.

It was announced yesterday (Thursday) that the 2nd annual meeting of the Mississippi River Cities and Towns Initiative will be held in St. Cloud.  The first meeting was last year in St. Louis.

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says the meeting will be held in late June.

Kleis says there are a lot of issues that affect the river from barge traffic, to invasive species, to pollution.  An agenda for the meeting will be announced next month in Washinton, D.C.

Kleis is the co-chair of the initiative.  St. Cloud beat out New Orleans for the chance to host the meeting.  It will be held at the River's Edge Convention Center.
