MELROSE -- A Maryland man is facing several charges after he was allegedly found with 40 pounds of marijuana and guns after a traffic stop near Melrose.

According to the criminal complaint the Minnesota State Patrol pulled over 24-year-old Sankung Bayo after he was caught speeding on I-94.

As the trooper approached the vehicle he noticed three other people inside. While talking to the individuals the trooper noticed all four suspects had bloodshot eyes and found a substance that looked like marijuana in the glovebox.

A search of Bayo's vehicle found about 40 one-pound baggies of marijuana, several pills, a rifle and a handgun.

The complaint also stats Bayo has prior convictions for aggravated assault and drug possession in Maryland and can't have weapons in his possession.

Bayo was booked into the Stearns County Jail and is awaiting his next court appearance.
