Mary Katherine Springs, 60, Brainerd

Mary K. Springs, 60, of Brainerd, MN died on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Services for Mary will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00PM with Pastor John Just officiating at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel.

Mary was born on December 5, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Virginia (Springs) Patrick. She grew up in the Chicago area most of her life, attending school and raising her family. Mary moved to Minnesota in 2000, first living in St. Cloud and then moving to Brainerd. She was very active in the Brainerd community with Habitat for Humanity and the Food Shelter. Mary worked as a certified home health care aid. She was always giving loving care and wonderful food to a wide circle of clients, friends, and family. Mary’s favorite pastime was playing Bingo, and she loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her son, Rodney (Alissa) Springs of St. Joseph, MN; daughters, Denette Johnson, Gabby Brown, Regina Brown all of Brainerd, MN, Denise Rule of Chicago, IL; brothers, Lamarr “Juice” Springs of Chicago, IL, Darnell “Blue” (Joann) Patrick of Minneapolis, MN, and Calvin “Kaboo” Patrick of Chicago, IL; sister, Vera “Cozy” Patrick of Chicago, IL; and ten grandchildren; and many more children who were loved and cared for as her own. The family would like to give a special thanks to Charlotte Stokes, Tracey Malone, and granddaughter, Shalamar Springs. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
