A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in St. Stephen for Mary Jane Schuneman, age 81 of St. Stephen who passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell. Reverend Eugene Doyle and Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. on Monday at the church. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.

Mary Jane was born on June 9, 1936 in Rice, Minnesota to Edward and Valeria (Krystosek) Pietron. She married Dennis J. Schuneman on June 11, 1956 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in North Prairie. They lived on the Mississippi River east of St. Stephen all of their married life. Mary Jane was a loving and caring day care provider for multiple families for over 20 years. She was a successful and outgoing Avon Representative for over 30 years and had earned many achievement awards. She was a member of St. Stephen Parish and Christian Mothers.

Her dedication to her family was reflected in her faith, her love of gardening, cooking, homemaking, her example in her service to others and her gentle and quiet spirit.

Survivors include her children, Kathy DeVires of Fort Worth, Texas, Kim Schuneman-Werner of St. Stephen, Peggy (Randy) Asseln of St. Stephen, Jeff (Laurie) of Sauk Rapids, Lori (Brad) Determan of St. Paul, Janet Hauge of Sauk Rapids and Tom (Yvonne) of Maple Grove; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister and brothers, Fran (Roger) Saatzer of Lake Shore, Ken (Mary Ann) of Sartell and Roger (Sue) of Cushing.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law, Peter Werner; brother, Richard; and infant brother, Leo.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
