Mary was born on August 13, 1918 in Melrose to Leo and Florence (Ashenbrener) Mahoney. She married Eugene Roeder on May 24, 1941 at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago.
After living in Chicago for 32 years, the couple moved their family to Kewaskum, Wisconsin, where they lived until Eugene passed away in 1975. Mary was an incredible presence in the life of her family and made all who entered her home feel loved and accepted. She was the star they circled and the central core of her family.
Mary is survived by her children, Michael (Ava) Roeder, Kate (Ben Shank) Roeder, Maggie (John) LaMarche; grandchildren, Alison (Joe) Mailander; Sofi and Lily Shank, Jeremy (Dina) LaMarche, Claire (Greg) Barnes, and three great grandchildren, Eleanor, Zora, and Everly.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Eugene.
Memorials are preferred to the Eugene and Mary Roeder Scholarship fund at St. John’s University.
The wonderful care and attention she received from everyone at Walker Elder Suites was (and is) a great comfort to her family and they are very grateful.
