Mary A. Anderson, 96, Elk River, formerly of St. Cloud

October 25, 1919 - August 27, 2016

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta for Mary A. Anderson, age 96, of Elk River and formerly of St. Cloud, who passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River. Reverend Robert Harren will officiate. Mary will be put to rest with her husband John, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Family and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. at the Church in St. Augusta. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Mary was born on October 25, 1919 in Watkins, Minnesota to Michael and Anna (Weisen) Schoen. She married Lloyd Kummer in 1940. Mary moved into St. Cloud area when Lloyd joined the military where she raised their four children. He died during WWII on March 15, 1945. She married John D. Anderson in 1949 in St. Cloud. Six children were born from this union. They moved to Brooklyn Park in 1976.

Mary enjoyed sewing and painting. She especially loved all the time spent with her family.

She is survived by her children, Stan (Marilyn) Kummer of Eagan, Jim (Ginger) Kummer of Bloomington, Marlene (Melvin) Niewind of Annandale, Carole (Jim) Diehl of St. Augusta, Roberta Anderson of Brooklyn Park, Bob Anderson of St. Cloud, Roxanne Dullinger of St. Cloud, Ron of Becker, Ruth (Mark) Reitter of Nowthen; 28 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Estelle Kople, Beulah Kummer, Claire Parsons; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Lloyd Kummer in 1945 and John Anderson in 2001; son, Rick Anderson in 2003; great-granddaughter, Samantha Zander; 13 brothers and sisters.

A Special Thank You to the staff of Guardian Angels Care Center and Annandale Care Center for all the support given to Mary during her stay.
