Marvin Leonard Holmquist Sr. passed away surrounded by his family on December 6, 2015 at the CentraCare Health Systems-Long Prairie in Long Prairie, Minnesota.

He was born to Carl and Dora (Pettit) Holmquist on April 22, 1932 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He married Deloris Ruth Finch of Long Prairie on September 13, 1951 in Long Prairie at the Baptist Church parsonage. They had a lasting marriage of 64 years. Early in his married life, he worked at Johnson Cashway Lumber in South St. Paul. Later he worked for farmers in Herman, Osakis, and Alexandria. He also enjoyed doing a variety of construction work. The family settled on a farm in Little Sauk Township in 1956. After one more move, the family farm was purchased in 1973. This was in Little Sauk Township and he spent the rest of his life there.

Marvin is survived by his wife Deloris, children, Marv Jr. of Sauk Centre, Danny (Maxine) of Verndale, Gary (Cathy) of Long Prairie, Ronnie (Vicky) of Long Prairie, Virginia of Long Prairie, Polly (Kevin) LaForge of Long Prairie, Mindy (Neal) Miller of Long Prairie, Marty (Sarah) of Long Prairie, Michael of Long Prairie, and Michelle (Tom) Roubinek of Woodbury, 20 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. Brothers, Carl, Ben, and Albert, sister Pearl Radueg. By many sisters-in-law. Long time family friend Robert Otte of Sauk Centre.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dora (Pettit), sister Marion (Finch) Holmquist. Brothers Gene, Virgil, Harold, and Harry. Sisters-in-law Evelyn Holmquist and Judy Holmquist.
