Marlys R. Evans, 72, Paynesville

August 4, 1945 - October 1, 2017

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Marlys R. Evans, age 72, of Paynesville. Marlys passed away October 1, at Paynesville Area Hospital. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 and after 9:30 a.m. on Friday, both at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville.

Marlys was born August 4, 1945 in Little Falls, MN to Roman and Bernice (Lawrence) Skaj. She moved to St. Cloud where she lived with her mother and step father Wallace David. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1963. She married Ken Evans on March 9, 1964 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. They lived and worked in the St. Cloud area until 1980 when they moved to Paynesville. They owned and operated Hilltop Restaurant and Stop. She enjoyed the interaction with people who stopped by. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville.

Marlys is survived by her husband of 53 years Ken of Paynesville, sons Jeff (Lori), Shawn (Kelly) and James all of Paynesville, grandchildren Tanner (Bre) and McKenna, brother Dennis (Carla) Skaj of Waite Park and her special dog Grady.

Marlys is preceded in death by her parents and brother Ken Skaj.

Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer’s Research.
