Marlys “Molly” I. Towberman, 74, St. Cloud

January 13, 1941 - January 19, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Edward N. Weyer, age 80, of Sauk Rapids who died Monday at his home surrounded by his family. Rev. Ralph Zimmerman will officiate and entombment will be in Hilltop Mausoleum in Sauk Rapids. Friends and relatives may come and join us with a celebration of life from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 and also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday morning. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids.

Ed was born April 23, 1934 in Sartell to John & Marcella (Dorr) Weyer. He married Joan Freihammer on July 6, 1964 in Foley. Ed lived in Sauk Rapids all his life and worked at St. Regis/Champion Paper Mill in Sartell for 42 years, retiring in 1996. He served his country in the Army from 1957-1959. Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as an usher, Sartell Legion Post 277, Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992 Men’s Auxiliary and Sauk Rapids Sportsman Club. He was also a Boy Scout Leader, coached PAA Softball for many years and was Santa Claus for 55 years. Ed enjoyed softball, cards, Bingo, woodworking, gardening and puzzles. He had a great sense of humor and was a happy and simple man.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of 50 years of Sauk Rapids; children, David (Deb) of Sauk Rapids, Bonnie (Rick) Thiel of Willmar, Cindy (Donnie) Lewandowski of Sartell, Julie (Michael) Emfinger of Jemison, AL, Dennis of Sauk Rapids and Tricia Weyer of Sauk Rapids; brothers and sisters, Lorraine Janson of Foley, Mary Jane Kalla of Rockville, Leo of Sauk Rapids, Pete of Hill City, Donald of Rice, Robert of Sauk Rapids, Helen Beckstrom of Sartell; 19 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leonard.

Memorials are preferred to CentraCare Hospice.
