February 2, 1936 - August 10, 2016

 

Marlene Jewell Nelson, age 80, of Princeton, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the Princeton Elim Home. Marlene was born on February 2, 1936, in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Gustav and Helen (Meyer) Hansen. She was united in marriage to Laurence Nelson on October 4, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Iowa. The couple lived in Forest Lake before moving to Princeton in May of 1962. Marlene has lived in Princeton ever since. She worked at the Princeton School District as a teacher’s aid for over 20 years before working at the Foley Nursing Home as a nursing assistant for 10 years. Marlene was talented at knitting, crocheting, sewing and quilting. She enjoyed feeding the birds and living on the farm where she could enjoy the outdoors and her horse. She also liked going on drives just to get out of the house. Her family was especially important to her and she was very proud of her children. She will be dearly missed.

Marlene is survived by her children, Gregory (Amanda) Nelson of TN, Jacqueline (Dean) Hiller of Princeton, Julie (Rick) Crawford of Princeton and Derek (Lisa) Willow of Faribault; grandchildren, Mitch, Dalton, Mason, Alexis, Matthew, Brittaney, Brent, Erin, Bridget, Blaire, Tina, Angie, Cassie, Wes, Keenan, Collin and Preston; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Addison, Cooper, Maverick, Lexus, Hannah, Wyatt, AJ and Alahna; siblings Russell (Judy) Hansen and Gayle (Dwight) Barth, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laurence and brothers Kenneth and Roger.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM-1:00PM prior to the service. Interment will be in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton.
