Marian “Phyllis” Bartz, 85, of Princeton, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Sterling Pointe in Princeton, MN.

Phyllis was born on October 27, 1929, the daughter of Roy and Sophia (Lanning) McBroom in Bogus Brook Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. Phyllis was united in marriage to Kenneth Gehardt Bartz on June 25, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Milaca. The couple farmed just north of Zion Church until retiring from farming in 2000, when they moved into Princeton. Phyllis taught Sunday School and was a 4-H leader for 15 years. She was the Zion Lutheran Church office secretary and worked at the blood bank for 60+ years. She was a lifetime member the Legion Auxiliary, edited the Legion Newsletter and volunteered at the Elim Home Coffee Shop. In her spare time Phyllis enjoyed knitting, gardening, canning and traveling.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, James (Maureen) Bartz of Princeton and Jere (Sandy) Bartz of Ogilvie; daughter Carol (John) Hulett of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Jamie (Valerie) Bartz, Jessica (Jon) Lasserre, Jeffrey (Laura) Bartz, Curtis (Kristine) Hulett, Kari (Paul) Allen, Joshua (Sarah) Bartz, and Cody Bartz; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Bartz in 2012; parents Roy and Sophia McBroom; and 11 brothers and sisters.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, Monday, August 17, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church, Princeton. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM, Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Princeton. Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton.
