Margaret “Margie” Louise Bowatz, age 95, Chisago City, MN, formerly of St. Cloud, MN, died Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Parmly LifePointes, Chisago City, MN.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Sauk Rapids, MN.

Margie was born February 12, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA to Fraser and Margaret (Heilmann) McElvany. She married Alois “Al” F. Bowatz on October 26, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA. Margie was employed by the Protas Dental Lab of Pittsburgh, PA for 5 years and the Thoele Dental Lab of St. Cloud, MN for 16 years. Following that, Margie was a daycare provider for 30 years, where the children she cared for called her “Grandma Margie.” She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, where she was active in choir, Sunday School and the Evening Guild. Margie loved music; children; animals, especially dogs; and baking.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Brian) Reiter of Chisago City, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Al on August 2, 2003, brother, Bill McElvany and sister, Thora McElvany.
