Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Marcella “Sally” M. Haakonson who died Sunday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Rev. Ralph Zimmerman will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2875 10th Ave. NE, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Friday also at the church. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church in Sauk Rapids.

Sally was born Aug. 10, 1920 in St. Cloud to Michael & Magdalena “Lena” (Wiener) Daniel. She married Clarence R. Haakonson on February 5, 1942 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids. Sally has lived in the St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids area her entire life. She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids where she was active in the St. Monica’s Society. Sally enjoyed canning, cooking, gardening, and teaching her children the ways of a good simple life. Most importantly Sally enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren grow into adults.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Tom) Machula of St. Cloud, Karl (Pam) of Tucson, AZ, Susan Landon of Gulf Breeze, FL, Judy (Jerry) Frey of David City, NE, Oscar (Diane) of Rice, Ruth (Tom) McGrath of Sauk Rapids, Joni (Mike) Grimes of Sauk Rapids, Terri (Bob) Vierzba of St. Cloud, Coke (Bill Conboy) of St. Cloud, Rick (Mary) of Sauk Rapids, and Kurt of St. Joseph; 30 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1994; son-in-law, Bob Jensen; and siblings, Lorraine Haeg, Laverne Erdmann and Wilbert Daniel.

Sally’s family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd and St. Croix Hospice for their compassion and kindness. Most importantly Sally’s children would like to thank their big sister, Karen Machula for the care she provided to their mother.

Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
