Maple Syrup Season Affected by Mild Temperatures [AUDIO]

COLLEGEVILLE – You may be enjoying our mild weather, but it’s stressing-out the people who make syrup.
John O’Reilly is the Assistant Director of the St. John’s Arboretum. He says they started tapping their trees on Saturday, but the forecast isn’t the best for them.

O’Reilly says he’s expecting to be below normal for the amount of syrup they end up making this year.

St. John’s doesn’t sell their syrup commercially, so they don’t rely on it for revenue.
Several public maple syrup events are scheduled this month at the Arboretum, O’Reilly suggests you call ahead to see if those events will be able to be held.
